SITE VISIT REPORT: GRADE SLAB CONSTRUCTION AND CONCRETE CASTING AT FARFAR, FUJAIRAH
Project Name: A-420 , Location: Al-Ghizmri, Farfar, Fujairah, Date of Visit: 10 May, 2026 2026, Time of Visit: 12:00 PM, Report Prepared By: Engineer Adeel Arif (Site Engineer)
____________
I. Purpose of Visit:
The primary objective of this site visit was to supervise the grade slab construction and ensure the quality of concrete casting for the Al-Gizmri villa. This involved verifying that the sub-grade preparation was compliant with engineering standards and monitoring the technical properties of the concrete during placement under extreme weather conditions to uphold the quality of villa construction in UAE.
II. Observations & Progress Status:
- Sub-structure Progress: Following the successful application of the bitumen waterproofing layer, backfilling has been fully completed and compacted to the required levels.
- Concrete Casting: Today marked the commencement of the grade slab casting for the ground floor. A 10 cm thick slab is being poured using Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC).
- Material Inspection: Upon arrival of the concrete mixers, standard technical checks were performed. Both the slump test and concrete temperature readings were within the permissible limits specified in the project’s technical requirements.
- Environmental Factors: The site experienced extremely hot weather during the operation. To mitigate the risk of premature setting and plastic shrinkage cracks, the pouring process was accelerated and executed as quickly as possible while maintaining the integrity of concrete works in Fujairah.
III. Directives & Next Steps:
- Curing Protocol: Due to the extreme ambient temperature, immediate and rigorous water curing must be initiated as soon as the concrete surface hardens sufficiently to prevent dehydration.
- Surface Finishing: Ensure the slab surface is leveled and finished smoothly as per the approved levels to facilitate future plaster works in villas.
- Protection: The newly cast slab must be protected from direct sunlight and physical disturbances for at least 24 hours.
- Quality Documentation: Collect and store concrete cubes for the 7-day and 28-day compressive strength tests to ensure structural compliance.
IV. Concluding Remarks:
The grade slab casting at A-420 Al-Gizmri was successfully executed despite the challenging weather conditions. The quality of the OPC concrete and the placement speed were satisfactory.
