SITE VISIT REPORT: FOUNDATION CONCRETE CURING & DE-SHUTTERING

Project Name: Proposed Shops Building Location: Block F, Plot C2, Mohammed Bin Zayed City (MBZC), Fujairah Date of Visit: November 18, 2025 Time of Visit: 10:00 AM Report Prepared By: Engineer Adeel Arif (Site Engineer)

I. Purpose of Visit:

To inspect the post-casting curing process for the main foundations and monitor the initiation of the formwork removal (de-shuttering) sequence.

II. Observations & Progress Status:

  • Concrete Casting: The foundations were successfully cast on November 15, 2025, following the final inspection approval by the Fujairah Municipality (FM).
  • Curing Status: Curing is being done properly across the foundation elements. The curing process is vital for ensuring the concrete reaches its intended strength.
  • Surface Condition: A few very small hairline cracks were observed on the concrete surface. These are assessed as typical surface shrinkage cracks and are not structurally dangerous.
  • Formwork Removal: The process of formwork removal (de-shuttering) is now actively in progress simultaneously with the mandatory curing period.

III. Directives & Next Steps:

  • Maintain Curing: The site team is instructed to continue rigorous curing for the required duration as per the concrete mix design and consultant specifications.
  • Controlled De-shuttering: Ensure that formwork removal is conducted carefully to prevent damage to the edges of the newly cast concrete.
  • Site Preparation: Upon full de-shuttering, the site must be prepared immediately for the next substructure element, likely the ground beams or columns, to maintain the construction schedule.

IV. Concluding Remarks:

The foundation of the MBZC Shops Building is successfully transitioning into its next phase. The quality of the concrete and the presence of only non-structural hairline cracks confirm a successful pour. Focus remains on completing the controlled de-shuttering and maintaining effective concrete curing in Fujairah‘s climate. Inspection detail for the foundation is here.
